Design & Metal Fabrication of Mild Steel Vertical Weapon Mount for Law Enforcement

Knowing our spotless track-record in providing customized reverse engineering solutions for businesses of all types, law enforcement approached TechniFab of Virginia about building new, vertical weapons mounts for their police vehicles. In order that authorities would have better, "at-the-ready" access to their rifles, we were asked to construct front-seat mounts that would be readily accessible from either the driver's or passenger's side. The trick for us was to ensure that the different types of law enforcement vehicles could be fitted to scale with the proper mounts - both in consideration of the particular kind of vehicle as well as the particular type of rifle.

We first used laser configurations programmed in-house to CAD drawing specifications so that we could define all the necessary details of the assignment. The hands-on work got going in earnest. We applied AMADA F03015 2000 W lasers to cut the 11ga mild steel and then used an Amada Promecam HFB 1003 press brake to bend the sheet metal to the right fit for each vehicle, with tightest tolerances of +/- .030". TIG-welded, grounded, and powder coated, the final product weighed in at around 6 lbs.
