TechniFab of Virginia designed and manufactured this patrol helicopter radio enclosure for an electric power and transmission company. The client required the ability to communicate from air to ground in real time during severe storms when there was significant damage to the power lines. Using our concept-to-design engineering services, we first assembled the necessary electronics and formed an enclosure to house the equipment for a helicopter mount. We developed CAD drawings based on our initial measurements and used these drawings to program our in-house lasers. Once the design phase was complete, the 800 mhz radio was manufactured from fabricated stainless steel through laser cutting and TIG-welding operations.

The radio measures 14 x 16 x 6 inches deep, with a standard tolerance of +/-.020 inches, and was made from 16GA SST steel. The estimated weight of this radio was 25 pounds. For more information on this product and our design services, please contact us or refer to the details below.
