Design & Metal Fabrication of Steel Baggage Handling Vehicle Hood for the Airline Industry
TechniFab of Virginia designed and manufactured a baggage handling vehicle hood for the airline industry. This process began by using reverse engineering. We measured existing fender wells and side panels with standard measuring equipment and used client-provided cardboard mock-ups for further design and engineering enhancement. Our 2-D CAD drawings were developed based on our initial measurements and we used these drawings to accurately program our in-house AMADA lasers.
Once the design phase was completed, we manufactured each baggage handling vehicle hood with our sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, and TIG welding processes.
Our vehicle hood measure 49 x 31 x 9 inches, with a standard tolerance of +/- .020 inches, and was made from 12GA HR P&O steel with a powder coating finish. The estimated weight of the part was 85 pounds. For more information on this product and our design and fabrication services, please contact us or refer to the details below.
